9 Lives of
A series of hand-pulled screen prints, 50 x 70 cm each, built around the myth of a cat's nine lives. The prints are on 270gsm recycled Colorset Storm paper, and each sheet came off the press slightly different from the last.
2024Process
The design started as a digital composition, which became the blueprint for the screens. From there the forms were transferred to screen and printed by hand in the studio.
The yellow was mixed by eye until it looked right. Against the dark paper it reads as almost fluorescent, which was the effect I wanted.
There are three designs in the series, each with its own palette shift. Some prints are misaligned on purpose, some by accident, and I kept both, so no two are alike.
